Brain Ageing & Injury Lab at University College Dublin

Welcome to the Brain Aging & Injury (BRAIN) Lab at University College Dublin. At BRAIN Lab, our goal is to enhance the understanding of the biomechanics that lead to a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and develop new technologies to prevent, diagnose, and treat these injuries. To achieve our goal, we use a combined experimental-computational approach to gain a better understanding of the brain’s mechanical behaviour under the dynamic conditions present during TBI. Our lab has expertise in biomechanical characterisation of biological tissues and computational modelling of brain injuries. Together with our collaborators, we are elucidating the relationship between the biomechanics and clinical manifestations of TBI to improve diagnosis and treatment.
